"Hey Taxpayers: Thanks for the Campaign Contribution!"
Who cares about the deficit when you can use taxpayer money for campaigning?

With a $25 billion deficit facing our state and concerns over how to solve the short and long-term fiscal problems California has, you would think the least Absentee Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan could do is manage her own taxpayer funding responsibly.  You would think.

Instead, Buchanan, as reported by the L.A. Times, has spent $115,000 on taxpayer-funded mailings promoting herself.  “Essentially they’re free campaign mailers paid for by taxpayers under the guise of state business,” said one political consultant quoted in the story.

The taxpayers already provide Assemblywoman Buchanan a resource for promoting herself – her government-provided website, which she can update for no additional cost.  We would encourage her to use it and we also have a suggestion.  Maybe she’ll use it to explain how she manages to miss so many votes?

Better yet, let’s give her government-funded website to someone who will be responsible and has a record of fiscal management equal to the task facing California: Abram Wilson.

Abram Wilson, as a mayor of San Ramon, balanced the budget every year and even created a “rainy day fund” equal to 50% of the City’s budget.  That’s a record of accomplishment and his experience is exactly what we need in Sacramento to get our state back on track.  We gave Joan a chance and she proved she can’t do the job, elect Abram Wilson on November 2.
